The Night Before:

1. Packing My Bag:

Tonight, I will pack my school bag with all the things I need, like my pencils, notebook, and a small sketchbook for drawing. This will help me feel ready for tomorrow. I can also pack a small item that reminds me of home, like a keychain or a small toy. This will help me feel connected to my old friends and familiar places.

2. Choosing My Clothes:

I will choose my clothes for tomorrow. I can pick something comfortable that I like, maybe a shirt with my favorite color or a design I drew. This will help me feel confident and happy.

Arriving at the New School:

3. Walking to the Entrance:

When I arrive at the new school, I might see many people. I can take a deep breath and remember that everyone is there to learn, just like me. I will try to look for friendly faces and smile. Smiling can help me feel more relaxed and make others feel happy too.

4. Finding My Classroom:

I will look for signs or ask a teacher to help me find my classroom. It’s okay to ask questions if I’m not sure where to go. Teachers and other students are there to help me.

In the Classroom:

5. Meeting My Teacher:

When I meet my teacher, I can say, "Hello, my name is Aaron." This will help my teacher know who I am. My teacher is there to help me learn and feel comfortable.

6. Finding My Seat:

I will find my seat in the classroom. I can look around and see if there is something familiar, like a poster with art or a book I know. This will help me feel more at home.

Meeting New Classmates:

7. Introducing Myself:

I can introduce myself to the classmates sitting near me. I can say, "Hi, I’m Aaron. What’s your name?" This will help me make new friends.

8. Looking for Friendly Faces:

I will try to find friendly faces in the classroom. If someone smiles at me, I can smile back. This can help me feel more comfortable and make new friends.

Typical First-Day Activities:

9. Learning the Routine:

My teacher will explain the daily routine. I will listen carefully and ask questions if I don’t understand something. This will help me know what to expect each day.

10. Participating in Activities:

There might be activities like drawing or a game. I will try to join in and have fun. Participating can help me feel more included and confident.

Coping with Challenges:

11. Feeling Overwhelmed:

If I start to feel overwhelmed, I can take a deep breath or ask to draw in my sketchbook. This will help me calm down and feel better.

12. Missing Old Friends:

If I miss my old friends, I can remember that I can make new friends here. I can also think about the fun things I will tell my old friends about my new school.

Conclusion:

On my first day at the new school, I will try my best to be brave and open to new experiences. I can introduce myself, ask questions, and look for friendly faces. I will remember to use my deep breathing and drawing to help me feel calm and confident. Each day will get easier, and soon, this new school will feel like home. I am proud of myself for trying new things and making new friends.
