Step 1: Moving to My New Home
I am Ashley, and I am about to start college as a freshman. I will be moving to a new town to live in a dorm. This is exciting because I will have my own space. I can arrange my room in a way that makes me feel comfortable. I will try to bring my favorite things, like my headphones and music player, to help me feel at home.
Step 2: Saying Goodbye to My Family
Leaving my family is a big step. I will miss them, but I can call or video chat with them whenever I want. I will try to set a regular time each week to talk to them. This will help me feel connected and supported, even when I am far away.
Step 3: Meeting New People
At college, I will meet many new people. I can introduce myself and ask questions to get to know them. I will try to join clubs or groups that match my interests, like a music club, where I can find friends who enjoy the same things I do. Making friends can be fun and help me feel less alone.
Step 4: Learning to Be Independent
Living on my own means I will have new responsibilities. I can make a schedule to help me remember important tasks, like doing laundry and going to class. I will try to keep my room organized and create a study space that is quiet and comfortable for me.
Step 5: Excelling in My Studies
I learn best by listening, so I will try to attend lectures and use audio recordings to help me study. I can ask my professors for help if I need it. I will try to find a study group where I can share ideas and learn from others. This will help me do well in my classes.
Step 6: Staying Safe
Being safe is important. I will try to learn my way around campus and know where to go if I need help. I can keep my phone charged and with me at all times. I will try to make sure someone knows where I am, especially if I am going out at night.
Conclusion: Embracing My College Journey
Starting college is a big adventure. I will try to be brave and open to new experiences. I can use my strengths, like my love for music and my ability to listen, to help me succeed. I will remember that it is okay to ask for help and that I am not alone. I am ready to learn, grow, and make wonderful memories. I believe in myself, and I know I can do this!
